Has anyone seen this movie? It’s not the deepest piece of cinema – it lacks the probing insights of a “Citizen Kane” or a “Dumb and Dumber,” but it’s a really fun little poke at the advertising world. It’s worth it alone for the fake ads (“Metamucil. It helps you go to the toilet. If you don’t use it, you could get cancer and die.”), since who really believes a romantic sub-plot would involve Dudley Moore and Darryl Hannah?
The guy who wrote the script for this movie has also written for the TV show Monk, which I hear is supposed to be good. When looking it up on IMDB, I came across a post from someone who isn’t too happy with Monk’s new theme song, written by Randy Newman. I’m probably just tired, but this post made me laugh out loud:
Think about a Randy Newman CSI song. During the elipses (…) go duh, duh, duh, duh, duh
GRISSOM….GRISSOM solving crimes playing with bugs
deaf in one ear and never hugs….GRISSOM…along with Katherine…
solving cases with minute facts she was a stripper and that’s a fact
husband’s dead his name was Ted…GRISSOM…along with Warwick
solving the crimes and playing the field ask this guy the winner and
he knows the deal…GRISSOM…along with Nick solving crimes on the
indescript tip don’t do much treated like a red headed step-child but
he’s good looking for the ladies…GRISSOM…along Sara solving crimes in
an annoying skinny way trying to get with the boss any old way likes to pout

jack getting warrants creating torrents…..GRISSOM…head of the C.S.I.
Which, of course, makes me think of the Family Guy eipsode where the Griffins are looking for shelter after the “Y2K disaster” strikes, and end up running away from Randy Newman, singing about everything he sees. I assure you, it’s funny, regardless of how stupid I’m making it sound.
